But these scans aren’t all the same, and “more information” isn’t always the same as “better care.”
What people mean by “body scan” (and why that matters)
“Body scan” is an umbrella term. It can refer to imaging like MRI, CT, ultrasound, DEXA (bone density/body composition), or even consumer-facing tools like 3D optical body scans used for fitness tracking. The benefits and risks depend heavily on which technology is being used and what, exactly, it’s trying to find.
